Agent vs chatbot
A chatbot primarily generates responses. An Agent may take actions such as retrieve information, search a repository, invoke APIs, create artifacts, call other services, or request human approval.
Autonomy is a spectrum
Agents can range from a model plus one controlled tool to complex systems performing multiple iterative actions. Greater autonomy increases the need for controls, observability, evaluation, and bounded permissions.
